Nigerian Youth and Government: Who Bears More Responsibility for Our Hardship?

Nigeria’s young people and the government often blame each other for the hardship facing the country. Many youths point to unemployment, insecurity, poor schools, corruption, weak infrastructure and limited support for small businesses. Others argue that some young people also contribute to the problem through the pursuit of quick money, refusal to build practical skills, poor work habits and an expectation that government must provide everything. The system has clearly failed many young Nigerians, but personal responsibility also matters. Government must create security, quality education and real economic opportunities. Young people must pursue useful skills, work ethically and organise to demand accountable leadership. Where should the balance of responsibility lie? Is the problem mainly bad governance, poor choices by some youths, or both?
