Wike: Adeleke’s Osun Victory Shows Tinubu Allowed Free, Fair Election

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the August 15 Osun governorship election shows that President Bola Tinubu allowed a free and fair process. Wike rejected allegations that the Federal Government used its influence to manipulate the poll. He said Tinubu’s reported call to congratulate Adeleke was evidence that the opposition was allowed to win. Adeleke reportedly polled 511,067 votes to defeat APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who received 444,815 votes. The result has sparked debate, with critics questioning Wike’s claim in light of allegations of inflammatory rhetoric, violence and inadequate security during the election.
