Aro Hospital Suspends Psychiatric Nursing School Activities After Student’s Death
The Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, has indefinitely suspended academic activities at its School of Post-Basic Psychiatric Nursing following the death of a student nurse, Godwin Ayodeji Taiwo. The suspension affects the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 sets, including master’s student nurses and students undergoing orientation. Hostel residents were also directed to vacate immediately. Management said the decision followed reported student unrest and would allow a peaceful investigation into the circumstances of Taiwo’s death. Taiwo, who reportedly had asthma, died after a medical emergency at the institution. Fellow students have alleged negligence, but those claims are yet to be determined by the investigation.
