Islamic Council Condemns Lassa School Attack, Labels Boko Haram and ISWAP Enemies of Islam
The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs has strongly condemned the recent attack on Government Day Secondary School in Lassa, Borno State. The assault during market day left a teacher dead and saw students and staff abducted. The council described the repeated kidnapping and killing of schoolchildren as a despicable crime against humanity. It urged the government to strengthen intelligence gathering, boost inter‐agency cooperation and adopt community‐based early warning systems. It praised troops of Operation HADIN KAI for rescuing some victims and mourned the soldier and Civilian Joint Task Force member killed during the rescue. The council stressed that Boko Haram and ISWAP are enemies of Islam and called for the arrest and prosecution of all perpetrators to restore lasting peace.
