Widow Says She Has Spent Eight Months Trying to Access Late Husband’s ₦395,000 Account

A Nigerian widow says she has spent more than eight months trying to access about ₦395,000 left in her late husband’s bank account after he died in January 2025. She said repeated trips to resolve the matter have brought little progress. According to her, transport costs alone have consumed more than 20 per cent of the money she is trying to recover. She urged couples to discuss important financial information and make proper estate plans for emergencies. Accessing a deceased person’s account may still require banks to follow formal legal and inheritance procedures.
