State University Pro-Chancellors Praise EFCC Support for NELFUND
The Committee of Pro-Chancellors of State-Owned Universities in Nigeria has praised the EFCC for supporting the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, saying the scheme has helped students remain in school despite financial hardship. During a courtesy visit to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, the committee called for stronger collaboration between the commission and state-owned universities. It proposed university-based institutes that could support research, knowledge sharing and skills development. The EFCC chairman said the commission is developing a Cyber Research Academy to strengthen ICT and research skills among young Nigerians. He added that universities would gradually be included in the initiative to help discourage cybercrime and promote productive use of technology. The Federal Government had earlier directed that additional funds recovered by the EFCC should be channelled to NELFUND to meet the scheme's growing funding needs.
