How Do Islamic and Christian Accounts of Jesus Differ?

This post questions the Qur’anic account of Jesus and contrasts it with the biblical account of the crucifixion. It argues that, in one Islamic interpretation, Jesus was rescued from arrest while another person was made to resemble him and suffered in his place. The writer sees this as sharply different from the Christian belief that Jesus willingly died for humanity. The post also compares this interpretation with accounts of Muhammad’s companions defending him at the Battle of Uhud, arguing that the two religious narratives present sacrifice and leadership in different ways. These claims are likely to be strongly disputed by Muslims, as Islamic interpretations of the relevant passages vary.
