Akpabio Pledges to Expose Sponsors of Terrorism, Urges Renewed Hope

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has vowed to expose individuals funding terrorism, kidnappings and violent attacks across Nigeria. He spoke at a Democracy Day church service held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja. He called on Nigerians to pray for the unveiling and defeat of those behind these crimes, whether within or outside government circles. “If they are in government, they shall be exposed. If they are outside government, they shall be exposed in Jesus Name,” he said. Recalling his tenure as Akwa Ibom governor, Akpabio highlighted the monthly prayer sessions he introduced to tackle militancy and kidnapping. He warned that insecurity continues to plague communities, causing farmers, travellers and families to live in fear. Speaking emotionally about abducted children, he drew on memories of the civil war to express solidarity with affected families. He assured Nigerians that the current administration remains committed to restoring peace and securing the release of all captives.

Promising to unveil sponsors at a church service seems more like headline hunting than a concrete plan.

This isn't the first big promise from political leaders after national events. Still waiting on real follow-up.

Instead of speeches, the focus should shift to strengthening intelligence networks and community reporting channels immediately.
