Sultan of Sokoto Denies Plot Against Christians, Calls for Religious Literacy and Dialogue
The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, said Muslims are not planning to eliminate Christians. He spoke at a Nigeria Inter-Religious Council meeting in Abuja and asked Nigerians to stop labeling violence as a religious agenda. He warned that those who kill innocent people while shouting “Allahu Akbar” are criminals and will face hell. The Sultan urged dialogue, trust and accurate descriptions of crime. Daniel Okoh of the Christian Association of Nigeria stressed that religious literacy promotes understanding and reduces tension. Secretary to the Government George Akume said inclusive education and empathy are key to national stability.
