Yemi Daniel Rejects Shooting Stars Job, Commits to Rivers United
Shooting Stars have reportedly dismissed head coach Nurudeen Aweroro, team manager Tammy Tamuno and assistant coach Shakiru Lawal after a 3-0 pre-season defeat to Ikorodu City. The Ibadan club were said to have approached Rivers United coach Yemi Daniel over the vacant role. Daniel, however, reportedly declined, saying he wants to complete his current project and honour his contract in Port Harcourt. Daniel praised Rivers United’s management and the trust placed in him by the club. He added that he respects Shooting Stars as a major Nigerian club and could consider an opportunity with them in the future. Aweroro had previously led 3SC to a third-place NPFL finish, ending the club’s long wait for continental football. His reported exit underlines the pressure and short-term decision-making often seen in Nigerian league management.
