Dispatch Rider Loses Life in Lagos Otedola Bridge Crash
A dispatch rider has died after a collision with a heavy-duty Volvo truck on the inward Secretariat axis, near Ogudu Toll Gate on Otedola Bridge. This is the second fatal crash involving a courier motorcycle in less than 24 hours along this busy corridor. LASTMA operatives responded immediately, cordoning off the scene to prevent secondary accidents amid heavy traffic. Officials handed the rider’s remains to the Federal Road Safety Corps and secured the area with support from the Alausa Police Division. The damaged truck and motorcycle were removed by tow truck, allowing traffic to resume gradually. Despite this, gridlock stretched back towards Berger, prompting LASTMA to work around the clock to clear the backlog. The General Manager of LASTMA extended condolences to the victim’s family. He urged articulated vehicle operators and dispatch riders to exercise greater vigilance and comply with traffic regulations. LASTMA affirmed its commitment to partner with stakeholders to reduce road fatalities and foster a stronger safety culture across Lagos State.
