2027: Lere Olayinka Alleges Peter Obi Gave Money to PDP Delegates

Lere Olayinka, media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has challenged the claim that Peter Obi does not spend money in politics. Speaking on a television programme, Olayinka alleged that Obi gave money to delegates in Ekiti while seeking the PDP presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 election. He said he was a delegate at the time and received a share of the money. Olayinka argued that spending is a regular part of political consultations, primaries and campaigns. He added, however, that Obi may have spent less than some other aspirants. The allegation has not been independently verified in the report.
