Jay-Jay Okocha has described Eintracht Frankfurt’s relegation in 1996 as one of the lowest moments of his football career. The former Super Eagles captain said Frankfurt had regularly competed for European places before a change in management led to a decline in the team’s performances. He said he could see the club’s direction worsening but felt too young to influence decisions. Okocha left Frankfurt after the relegation and went on to play for Fenerbahçe, Paris Saint-Germain, Bolton Wanderers and Hull City. He remains one of Nigeria’s most celebrated footballers.
