Former Virginia Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax and Wife Found Dead in Suspected Murder-Suicide
Former Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax and his wife, Cerina, were discovered dead at their Annandale home in what police believe was a murder-suicide following a domestic dispute. Fairfax County authorities say Cerina Fairfax was found in the basement and Justin Fairfax was located in a bedroom, both with fatal gunshot wounds. Investigators cite camera footage and evidence from inside the house in reaching their conclusion. Their children were at home when the incident occurred, and one of them called emergency services. Police Chief Kevin Davis described the case as stemming from a complicated divorce dispute. Justin Fairfax served under Governor Ralph Northam from 2018 to 2022. His tenure included denied sexual assault allegations in 2019 and a failed 2021 gubernatorial primary run. Officials continue to review all evidence in the ongoing investigation.
