Benue Commissioner Says Peter Obi Ignored Protocol and Risked Security Issues
Benue State Commissioner for Information, Solomon Iorpev, has said Peter Obi failed to follow protocol by not formally notifying the state government before his visit. Reacting to reports that some youths blocked Obi on Tuesday, Iorpev said the state needed prior notice to make adequate security arrangements for a high-profile visitor and former governor. He said the government could not guarantee Obi’s safety without official communication. The commissioner added that Obi’s visit coincided with a gathering of youths from Benue’s 23 local government areas, but said he did not know who was responsible for the road blockage.
