ADC Youth Wing Demands Mark and Aregbesola Resign Over Alleged Primary Irregularities
The National Youth Wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has demanded the resignation of National Chairman David Mark and National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola over alleged irregularities in the party’s primary elections. At a press conference, the youth leader, Balarabe Rufa’i, alleged that candidates who won properly conducted primaries were being replaced by people who did not take part in the process. The group said the dispute is especially serious in Kano State, which it considers crucial to the party’s plans for the 2027 elections. The youths cited the alleged removal of Abdurrahman Mai Nasara Salga’s name after he reportedly won the Dala Federal Constituency primary. They also claimed that Rufa’i’s name, despite his reported victory in the Kano Central senatorial primary, had not been submitted to INEC. The group appealed to Atiku Abubakar and other party stakeholders to intervene, resolve the dispute and restore confidence in the ADC’s nomination process. The allegations have not been independently verified, and the party leadership’s response was not included.
