Manchester United Report £43m Loss as New Stadium Plans and Ticket Row Fuel Fan Anger

Manchester United recorded a £43 million net loss for the 2025/26 financial year, its seventh consecutive year in the red. The deficit rose by £10 million from the £33 million loss reported in 2024/25. Despite the losses, the INEOS-led club is pressing ahead with proposals for a new 100,000-seat stadium near Old Trafford. The club has also sold preserved pieces of the Old Trafford pitch after work was carried out to improve drainage ahead of the 2026/27 season. The pitch-sale initiative has drawn comparisons with Barcelona, which sold pieces of the Camp Nou turf during its financial troubles. Tottenham Hotspur and Everton have also reported major losses while managing the costs of stadium projects. Fan tensions have increased after 685 season tickets were revoked following a club investigation. Supporter groups say genuine fans were unfairly affected and have questioned the club's handling of the policy.
