Why Nigeria Needs Financial Literacy Alongside Faith
I wish our parents had taught us financial literacy as passionately as they taught religion. The Bible even says, “Money answereth all things,” yet few of us learn how money works. Most Nigerians upgrade their lifestyle the moment their income rises. They spend first and never save or invest. In university, students selling snacks were mocked as poor, even though they were true entrepreneurs. Churches preach tithes, offerings, and charity but rarely teach money management. Our religious leaders live in luxury while followers fast and pray for financial breakthroughs. Fasting won’t pay rent or create jobs without practical plans. Let’s teach our children CRK and economics equally. Show them the importance of saving, investing, and starting a business. That way, they’ll be prepared for the world beyond faith.
