A farmer in Kaduna said he caught an elderly woman taking corn, groundnuts and yam from his farm after repeated thefts of produce. The woman reportedly said she was hungry and had no one to support her. She said her children live in the city but do not visit or check on her. According to the farmer, she does not own a phone and receives only unfulfilled promises whenever she borrows one to call her children. He said he forgave her after hearing her story and urged people not to abandon their elderly parents in their villages.
