A Nigerian woman living with neurofibromatosis has shared how discrimination over her skin condition affects her experience in church. She said that during the Catholic sign of peace, some worshippers avoid shaking her hand. Neurofibromatosis is a genetic condition that can cause non-cancerous tumours to grow on the nerves, skin and bones. She also recalled editing most of her photos because of hurtful reactions online. With encouragement from her husband, she has begun sharing her story more openly and hopes to promote understanding and acceptance.
