Ododo Declares Three Days of Mourning for Former Kogi Governor Ibrahim Idris
Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has declared three days of mourning following the death of former Governor Ibrahim Idris, popularly known as Ibro. Idris died in the United Kingdom on September 20, 2026, aged 77. The governor directed that Nigerian and Kogi State flags be flown at half-mast at government offices and designated public institutions. He also announced that the state government would organise and fund a state burial for the former governor. Idris governed Kogi State from 2003 to 2012 under the Peoples Democratic Party. Before politics, he built business interests in construction, furniture manufacturing and hospitality, including Ibro Trading Company and Ibro Hotel.
