Why Does ₦1,000 Worth of Suya Seem Bigger Than ₦1,000 Worth of Raw Meat?
I went to the market to buy ingredients and decided to get ₦1,000 worth of meat for my sauce. The butcher initially did not want to sell such a small portion, but he later called me back and sold it to me in four pieces. After cooking, the meat reduced to very small chunks. It made me remember that ₦1,000 worth of suya usually seems like much more meat. Considering the grilling, spices and labour involved in making suya, I expected raw meat to be more in quantity. Was I cheated by the butcher, or is suya made from a different type or cut of meat?
