FIFA and CAF Delegation Holds Talks in Abuja Over NFF Crisis
A joint FIFA and Confederation of African Football delegation arrived in Abuja on Monday to meet with officials and stakeholders over the crisis in the Nigeria Football Federation. The delegation visited the NFF headquarters at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium as part of efforts to assess the dispute, proposed restructuring and the federation’s next electoral process. The crisis followed the resignation of former NFF president Ibrahim Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi and several Executive Committee members. Security was tightened around the secretariat, with DSS and police personnel restricting access to visitors and journalists. Some expected participants, including representatives of the National Institute for Sports and the players’ union, were reportedly unable to enter. A wider stakeholders’ meeting was scheduled for Abuja later in the day. Its outcome could shape the NFF’s leadership arrangements, reforms and plans for future elections.
