APC Wins Two Polling Units Linked to Aregbesola in Osun Governorship Election

The APC won at two polling units in Ilesa East linked to former Osun Governor Rauf Aregbesola, dealing an early symbolic setback to the ADC in the governorship election. At Polling Unit 001, Cooperative Building Junction, Isare, Ward 08, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji polled 256 votes. Accord Party candidate and incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke received 43 votes, while ADC candidate Najeem Salaam scored 13 votes. At nearby Polling Unit 007, Elegant D.C. in Isare, the APC recorded 202 votes. Accord received 110 votes and the ADC polled 12. Aregbesola, now the ADC National Secretary, backed Salaam and voted in the area earlier on election day. The results cover only two polling units and do not determine the statewide outcome. However, they underline the ADC's challenge of converting Aregbesola's political influence in Ilesa into votes.
