Two Teenagers Drown as Torrential Rain Triggers Flooding in Kaduna

Two teenagers, Suleiman Yakubu, 19, and Abubakar Mohammed, 17, have drowned in a river in Askplaye community, Kaduna State, following days of torrential rainfall. The National Emergency Management Agency said the victims’ bodies had not yet been recovered. The agency is assessing flood damage alongside the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency and other responders. Heavy rain lasting about four days caused flash floods in parts of Kaduna metropolis. Some roads were submerged, residents were temporarily trapped in their homes, and movement was disrupted in affected communities. Emergency officials say monitoring and needs assessments are continuing to support communities affected by the flooding.
