The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned suspects accused of using an old Nigerian phone number linked to celebrity blogger Tunde Ednut to impersonate him. The suspects allegedly posed as Ednut to obtain money from brands and advertisers seeking promotional deals on his Instagram page. Investigators said the alleged scheme involved ₦18.2 million, including a reported ₦2 million loss by one victim. The defendants pleaded not guilty and were remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja. The court adjourned the case until November 17, 2026.
