Ogun Police Bust Four Suspects, Seize Illegal Guns in Coordinated Raids
Ogun State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its fight against cultism and unlawful firearms possession. Four suspects were arrested across Mowe, Sagamu and Odeda, and several illegal guns and cartridges were recovered. On April 14, officers at Mowe bus stop apprehended 36-year-old Opeyemi Anuoluwapo. A locally made pistol, a spent cartridge and charms were found on him. He later admitted membership of the Eiye confraternity. At Sagamu/Ogijo Road, the Quick Response Squad arrested 30-year-old Asaye Ajibola during a stop-and-search, recovering a loaded firearm. The next day, patrol officers detained 49-year-old Adedeji Olufemi with a double-barrel gun and extra cartridges. In Osiele’s Sawmill area, a vigilante member accidentally discharged his weapon, injuring three people. All suspects are now in SCIID Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation. The Commissioner of Police praised the teams and urged residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity.
