1 / 2

Rotary International District 9112 has selected 400 young people for its 2026 Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, a nine-day leadership and character-development camp beginning on August 1 at the Sea School, Snake Island, Apapa, Lagos. The programme will train participants aged 14 to 25 in leadership, discipline, teamwork, personal development and vocational skills such as photography, shoemaking and bead-making. They will also engage with leaders from different sectors. Organisers said some participants may receive exchange and training opportunities in the United Kingdom, Ghana and Canada. The camp will operate under strict rules on punctuality, honesty, self-control and respectful conduct.

The selection is encouraging, though leadership programmes matter most when participants can apply the lessons after the camp ends.
