When Nigerian Youths Unite: What Would Change First?
Many politicians fear a united citizenry more than rival parties. When Nigerian youths truly agree and stand firm, the balance of power could shift at once. Politicians swap insults and expose corruption during campaigns, then unite to protect their interests. Ordinary citizens, however, split along tribe, religion or party lines. We often defend a stranger’s politician more passionately than our own future. Without long-term organization, outrage fades. Protests over fuel hikes spark memes for days, then life returns to normal. The system counts on this cycle. Organized and disciplined youth could demand real accountability.
