Nigerian Arrested in Gambia With 9,020 Ecstasy Pills and Suspected Drug-Making Machine
Gambia’s Drug Law Enforcement Agency says it arrested a 53-year-old Nigerian, Celestine Ikenna Godwin, on 24 August 2026 over suspected drug trafficking and production. Officers reportedly recovered 9,020 ecstasy tablets, suspected skunk cannabis and equipment believed to have been used to manufacture or process illicit drugs. The agency said the equipment seizure was its first of its kind and raised concerns about possible clandestine synthetic-drug laboratories in the country. The suspect remains in custody as investigators seek to identify possible collaborators and networks.
