Suspected Vandal Dies as 330kV Transmission Tower Collapses in Delta

Suspected Vandal Dies as 330kV Transmission Tower Collapses in Delta

A suspected vandal has died after a 330kV transmission tower collapsed along the Ughelli-Benin transmission line in Delta State. The Transmission Company of Nigeria said its maintenance team discovered the incident while tracing an earth fault that caused the line to trip. The team found Tower 101 collapsed, with the victim trapped beneath parts of the structure. TCN said another tower on the nearby Ughelli-Sapele 330kV line was also badly vandalised but remained standing. The company urged residents to report suspicious activity around power installations, warning that vandalism disrupts electricity supply, damages national assets and puts lives at risk.
