EFCC Declares Ex-Pension Task Team Chairman Abdulrasheed Maina Wanted

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared former Pension Reform Task Team chairman Abdulrasheed Maina wanted over an allegation of receiving stolen property. The declaration is linked to a separate nine-count case before the FCT High Court in Abuja. Maina and Ann Igwe Olachi are accused of receiving ₦738.6 million allegedly connected to biometric enrolment contracts for pensioners. Maina was convicted of money laundering in 2021 and his conviction was upheld on appeal in 2023. He was released from prison in February 2025 under statutory remission and good conduct. In February 2026, the trial judge warned that his bail could be revoked over repeated delays in the fresh case. The EFCC has asked anyone with credible information about his whereabouts to report to the nearest security agency.
