NHRC Records 276 Alleged Rights Violations in Adamawa in Six Months

NHRC Records 276 Alleged Rights Violations in Adamawa in Six Months

The National Human Rights Commission in Adamawa says it received 276 reports of alleged human-rights violations between January and June. The commission said 84 cases were resolved, 12 remain pending and nine were referred to relevant authorities, while other cases are still being handled. Reported complaints included domestic violence, forced marriage, unlawful arrest and detention, threats to life, child access disputes, inheritance rights and non-payment of benefits. The commission said it is increasing awareness campaigns in schools, communities and worship centres. Residents whose rights have been violated were urged to seek redress through the commission rather than take the law into their own hands.
