Should Nigeria Fast-Track Terrorism and Kidnapping Trials?
I do not understand why convicted terrorists and kidnappers are kept in custody for years while communities continue to suffer attacks, killings and displacement. I believe Nigeria needs a faster and more effective justice system for terrorism and kidnapping cases. Delays, prison breaks and weak enforcement can make people lose confidence in government and resort to self-help. Should the government enforce existing penalties more swiftly, while ensuring every accused person receives a fair trial? What practical steps can stop violent offenders from returning to society and protect Nigerians?
