Sanwo-Olu Tours 90%-Complete Agro Food Hub in Abijo

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Origin Tech Group Executive Chairman Prince Samuel Joseph Samuel inspected the mid-level Agro Food Hub under construction in Abijo, Eti-Osa. The facility is over 90% complete, with finishing touches now underway. Built on 23,000 square metres, the hub will offer storage, trading floors, and parking. It is designed to decentralise food distribution and improve access to fresh produce along this corridor. Prince Samuel Joseph Samuel noted that similar hubs at Agege, Lagos Island, Oregun, and Ikorodu are at various stages of completion. Additional sites in Epe and Badagry will link to a central logistics hub in Ketu-Ereyun to form a unified network. This visit follows the recent launch of the ₦500 billion Produce for Lagos initiative. The project supports the state’s food sovereignty agenda and aligns with the Lagos Agricultural Roadmap launched in 2021.

Finishing touches alone won't solve underlying challenges like funding, supply chain delays, or skilled staffing at such a large facility.

Local cooperatives should coordinate now with the new hub management to secure processing slots and prevent initial operational bottlenecks.
