Aliko Dangote has reacted to the viral jokes from Nigerians who bought shares in the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and began calling themselves his business partners. Speaking at the Qatar Economic Forum, Dangote said the new shareholders had been calling for a board meeting. Social media users have shared mock ownership certificates and humorous posts portraying themselves as refinery executives and co-owners. Dangote said his businesses had historically operated without external partners, but the refinery share offer is bringing in a large number of investors. He also confirmed plans to list Dangote Fertiliser in 2028 as the company targets major production expansion in Nigeria and Ethiopia.
