ADC Petitions US Embassy Over Alleged Leadership Hijack
A fresh crisis has engulfed the African Democratic Congress (ADC). In a formal letter to the US Embassy in Abuja, Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe accuses unnamed actors of trying to usurp the party’s leadership and violate its constitution. Gombe says the vacuum created by the resignation of former chairman Ralph Okey Nwosu and other National Working Committee members should have passed the chairmanship to him as the sole deputy chairman. He claims outside forces are blocking his constitutional takeover. While the party pursues legal action, its opponents have launched a propaganda campaign. ADC leaders deny any link to President Tinubu or the APC and insist their appeal is purely about safeguarding internal democracy. The petition urges the US to impose visa restrictions or other sanctions on anyone proven to have attempted an unconstitutional takeover. Such a move, the party says, would send a clear message that subverting internal party democracy will not be tolerated.
