FG Plans Digital Skills-Driven Education Reform for Nigerian Students
The Federal Government says it is redesigning Nigeria’s education system to place greater emphasis on practical digital skills, employment and entrepreneurship. Education Minister Tunji Alausa said schools would prioritise areas including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, networking, software development and data analytics. He added that students also need critical thinking, communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills. The reform agenda includes expanding technology in curricula from the primary level, strengthening technical and vocational education, and partnering with industry on internships, mentorship and professional certifications. The government also called for more affordable internet access, devices and learning materials for rural learners, girls, persons with disabilities and low-income families.
