Tinubu Reportedly Warns Against Using His Name in Ogun 2027 INEC Controversy
President Bola Tinubu has reportedly cautioned political associates against using his name to advance personal ambitions amid controversy over INEC’s final list of Ogun governorship candidates for 2027. The list includes APC candidate Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, known as Yayi, and his running mate, Kudirat Abiodun Balogun. However, the PDP ticket led by Ladi Adebutu and Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo is absent from the published list of 13 candidates. Villa sources reportedly said the President is concerned that political actors could create the impression that the electoral process is being controlled from the Presidency. INEC has not stated why the PDP ticket was omitted, while Adebutu and the Ogun PDP have questioned the development. The dispute could move to court as attention turns to INEC, the PDP and the legal implications of the omission.
