Imo Lecturer Alleges ₦2.058m Loss to Unauthorised Transfers Across Three Bank Accounts
An Imo State lecturer, Kelechi Chika Ubaku, says ₦2.058 million was transferred from his GTBank, First Bank and Moniepoint accounts without his authorisation on August 11. He said the transfers happened within minutes and were sent to recipient accounts on GoMoney and Moniepoint. Ubaku said he reported the case to the three institutions the following day and has also petitioned the EFCC through his lawyer. GTBank said its review found that the disputed transfers passed the security checks on its platform, suggesting that the customer’s device or security details may have been compromised. First Bank said it had investigated the complaint and advised the account holder to contact its customer service directly. Moniepoint said the matter had been escalated for resolution after Ubaku served a court order seeking recovery.
