Pregnant Woman Seeks Divorce, Alleges Assault and Threats by Husband
A seven-month pregnant woman, Safiya Ismail, has asked an Upper Area Court in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, to dissolve her marriage over allegations of assault, threats and neglect. Ismail told the court that her husband, Suleiman Khalid, had abandoned the family and failed in his responsibilities as a husband and father. She also requested financial support for her upkeep until she gives birth. Khalid denied the allegations. The court adjourned the matter until August 26 for hearing.
