Afenifere Backs Tinubu’s Progress Agenda, Calls for Deeper Restructuring and Security Boost

The Yoruba socio-cultural group Afenifere has commended President Bola Tinubu for steering Nigeria toward progress. In a statement after its meeting in Akure, the group praised efforts to reengineer the nation into one citizens can be proud of. Afenifere reiterated its long-standing call for genuine restructuring to strengthen true federalism. It urged the president to accelerate reforms that will hasten development and reflect Nigeria’s diverse interests. The group also saluted the bravery of soldiers and mourned those who lost their lives defending the country. It called for enhanced security measures, better equipment, and thorough investigations into internal collaborators and illegal mining sponsors. Welcoming the State Police Bill before the National Assembly, Afenifere cautioned against clauses that could undermine state autonomy. It also demanded a prompt probe into reported harassment by new army recruits and swift action to rescue kidnapped pupils in Oyo State.

While acknowledging Afenifere's support, I question whether broad statements translate into real policy changes on the ground.

To ensure progress, activists should track tangible milestones in restructuring and security deployment, then share findings publicly for accountability.
