Joshua 24:15 says, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” The choices we make at home shape the kind of family life we eventually live with. A carpenter once cut corners while building a house, using poor materials to keep extra money. When the work was finished, his employer gave him that same house as a gift. He then had to live with the consequences of every shortcut he took. In the same way, love, time, guidance and a good example are investments in our homes. We should not short-change our spouses or children, because today’s choices can shape tomorrow’s family life. Let this be our prayer: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
