Former Golden Eaglets Goalkeeper Akpan Udoh Switches Allegiance to Uganda

Uganda have secured the allegiance of Nigerian-born goalkeepers Akpan Udoh and Kingdom Osayi as they expand their pool of heritage players for the Uganda Cranes. Udoh was Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper when the Golden Eaglets won the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup alongside Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze. Now with Malta’s Mosta FC, he qualifies for Uganda through a grandparent from Busia and must complete a one-time FIFA association switch. Osayi, who previously played for Heartland, MFM, Doma United and Rangers in the NPFL, qualifies through his maternal grandmother. Since he never represented Nigeria in an official international match, he can join Uganda immediately. Both goalkeepers are expected to be available as Uganda prepare for upcoming qualifiers.
