How Oyo Kidnappers Tied Schoolchildren to Motorcycles and Hid Them in the Forest

Senator Abdulfatai Buhari has revealed chilling details of how gunmen abducted pupils and teachers in Orire Local Government Area. He told journalists that kidnappers tied as many as eight children together on a single motorcycle. One rider sat at the front while another, armed with a machine gun, rode behind, recording the operation. On May 15, 49 people—including schoolchildren, teachers and a toddler—were seized from three schools. A mathematics teacher was reportedly beheaded and the remaining hostages endure harsh conditions in the forest. The Nigeria Union of Teachers has begun an indefinite strike demanding the swift rescue of all victims. President Tinubu has approved the deployment of 1,000 forest guards to support ongoing rescue efforts. Senator Buhari said security agencies have narrowed down the kidnappers’ hideout using police and military helicopters. He cautioned against using incapacitating substances that could harm the youngest hostages and called for a tactical, thoughtful approach to the operation.
