Chief Imam of Talluje and Two Residents Killed in Sokoto Bandit Attack

At about 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, armed bandits stormed Talluje and Chofi villages in Danchadi District of Bodinga LGA, Sokoto State. They fired indiscriminately for nearly two hours, killing the Chief Imam of Talluje and two other residents. The violence forced hundreds of women and children to flee their homes on foot to safer areas in Danchadi and Bodinga town. Witnesses also say the attackers rustled an unspecified number of livestock before escaping. A senior police officer confirmed the killings and said an anti-kidnapping unit has been deployed amid fears the bandits may return to the area.
