Bandits Kill Four, Abduct Four While Searching for Boat Mishap Relief Funds in Sokoto
Bandits attacked Gorau community in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Wednesday night, killing four residents and abducting four others. Seven people were also injured and taken to hospital. The attack came six days after a boat mishap in the community reportedly killed 65 people, many of them children. The village head said the attackers moved from house to house demanding the ₦1 million relief payment the state government pledged to each bereaved family. Security operatives reportedly arrived and pursued the attackers, preventing further casualties. The incident has raised fresh concerns over the safety of grieving families and the protection of relief funds in the community.
