Catholic Priest Reportedly Killed in Ajaokuta, Kogi
The Catholic Diocese of Lokoja has confirmed the death of Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, a Catholic priest who was reportedly attacked by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. Reports say he was stabbed multiple times and his body was found by the roadside on Wednesday, 29 July 2026. The circumstances of the killing remain unclear, and authorities had not issued an official statement at the time of the report. Fr. Oyetoro, who served at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Egbe, was from Kogi State. The diocese has asked priests, religious faithful and parishioners to pray for his family and the Diocese of Lokoja.
