Someone asked Jesus, “What good deed must I do to receive eternal life?” Jesus reminded him to keep the commandments: not to murder, commit adultery, steal, or lie. He also said to honour parents and love others. When the young man claimed he had obeyed all these, Jesus told him to sell his possessions, give to the poor, and follow Him. Saddened by his many riches, he walked away. Jesus then explained how hard it is for the wealthy to enter God’s kingdom, yet with God all things are possible. He promised rewards to those who leave family or property for His sake.
