Fulani Group Appeals to Tinubu: Curb Igboho’s Oyo Ultimatum
A Fulani socio-cultural organisation has asked President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde to caution activist Sunday Igboho over remarks targeting Fulani communities in Oyo State. Its convener, Ibrahim Barkindo Chubado, reacted after Igboho reportedly gave Fulani leaders two hours to release a woman and her children allegedly kidnapped in the state. Igboho also vowed to enter a forest reserve used by kidnappers if the victims remained captive. Chubado warned that blaming an entire ethnic group for crimes committed by a few individuals could fuel tension and undermine peace. He stressed that most Fulani are law-abiding citizens and that criminals should be treated as individuals. The statement said generalising about Fulani involvement in terrorism, banditry or kidnapping without evidence could lead to hostility and violence. It called on authorities to address wrongdoers without stoking ethnic divisions.
